Online Events for Councils

24th August 2011

Every council has a responsibility to hold engaging events for its citizens and visitors to the area. To show value-for-money a council also has to manage the costs and resources in promoting its events to as large an audience as possible.

Online digital promotion can play a big part in reducing some of the marketing costs.

Imagee-mango has worked very closely with Islington Council and created an online Events system that met their demanding needs.

It is a very easy to search and the use of categories, age ranges and postcodes ensures the most appropriate results are returned.

The system enables easy sharing of events to social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn plus “e-mail a friend” feature as well. Why not let others do some of the marketing work? Furthermore there are RSS feeds for those that want to subscribe in that way or be used to populate other systems.

Many councils are also beginning to outsource some of their services to external providers in a bid to reduce costs and resources. This can bring its own issues when it comes to keeping any Council web site updated. e-mango has built into the system the ability for nominated third party providers to enter their own events.

To assist with the overall management process there are also a set of reports and exports.

This is a system that truly works for the council, external providers and the community.
